With rapid urbanization as the need for energy augments everyday Smart cities can offer energy efficient solutions in an interactive, connected and responsive manner. It provides optimized infrastructure, clean and sustainable environment and apply smart solution to improve quality of life for a human being. These smart solutions ensure smart economy and smart mobility with smart governance. Within the purview of smart city there comes e-governance and citizen services like grievance redress and video crime monitoring, waste, water and energy management and facilities like smart and intelligent traffic monitoring and parking. Availability of telemedicine and skill development centres is also the key points to consider.
So as we see that western world is rapidly progressing towards the realisation of smart urbanization India is also not far behind. Smart Cities AwasYojna Mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2015.A total of980 billion (US$15 billion) has been approved by the Indian Cabinet for development of 100 smart cities and rejuvenation of 500 others. In the 2014 Union budget of India, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley allocated7,016 crore (US$1.0 billion) for the 150 smart cities.
Considering the facts that India has the first and third most polluted river, and four of its major cities is in the list of first ten most polluted cities of the world development of smart cities is the need of the hour.
